CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

As students, we learn to listen to our bodies. We are all individuals, we are all different, we all have our own stresses, injuries and lifestyle pressures and we are constantly changing. At HYA, we empower students to practice a mix of the class types, offered at different levels, depending on what your body needs.

YIN

Yin Yoga teaches us the habit of slowing down and goes hand in hand with the practice of mindfulness. Physically yin targets the connective tissues and the joints of the body. Suitable for everyone, particularly people who are ‘busy’ stressed and in need of balance. A floor based practice where postures are held for time.

Embodied Flow™

Embodied Flow™ is a continuum of movement and expression that draws from the discoveries of various hatha, tantric and somatic movement systems in order to experience yoga as a living art form. Embodied Flow™ provides the technology for a deep sense of ease, strength and connectivity in the human form. This in turn, empowers the practitioner to be their own greatest teacher as they expand, integrate and facilitate awareness in their entire body-mind.

open

A creative and simple class with plenty of modifications and optional challenges alike. Suitable for all levels. Some experience preferred but not necessary.

ALIGN

A Hatha style practice focusing on foundational aspects of each pose. Each week will have a physical focus and alignment skill to refine and align your practice, building confidence, strength and balance.

dynamic

This energizing practice will have students moving fluidly from one pose to the next connecting breath to movement. The aim of this practice is to build strength, flexibility, balance and stamina all while invoking a calm state of mind to empower the student to progress.
